CLIFFE PLAY AREA - CHURCH ST. GATE CLOSED

Following safety concerns by parents and an inspection from Safeplay Playground Services Ltd. who found the gate closer to be damaged beyond repair, it was decided by the Parish Council to temporarily lock the front gate to the Play Area until further notice. Please use the rear gate for access.

The Parish Council will take professional advice on the safety of replacing the gate so close to the road. This has become much busier in recent years and visibility for both pedestrians and motorists is obscured by the parked cars, making crossing the road particularly hazardous. Recently a young child was injured by a car as they were coming from the shop to the park.

We have asked Medway Council Highways to inspect the area and consider approving and installing a pedestrian crossing to give children and families a dedicated safe place to cross. Any updates we receive will be posted on our website.
