New Explorers Unit in Cliffe Offers Teens Exciting Adventures and Lifelong Skills

Try more.

Do more.

At Explorers you'll get the chance to dream big, find your place in the world and make memories to last a lifetime.

Night Owls Explorers opened in January 2024 for all aged 14-17. They meet on Tuesday evenings during term time at The Scout Hut, Thatchers Lane, Cliffe ME3 7RE. Bringing fun and new opportunities to the young people of Cliffe.

Explorer Sophie enjoys "having the freedom to do activities you might not get to do elsewhere." We offer over 200 different activities at Scouts. From fun-filled thrills and wild adventure, to creative activities and historic learning, there's something to suit everyone.

Volunteer Hannah describes how they "focus on the social and independent skill sets. Allowing young people to grow in confidence, adaptability and resilience." 92% of young people say they learn skills for life from the Scouts. In the few months they have been open, they have taken part in a Fish & Chip shop survey, attended the District Weekend Camp, worked on fire lighting techniques and skills, developed skills through a variety of badges including the Chef badge.

The young people comment on how they "like doing a variety of things within Explorers" and "doing activities as a group". The fun doesn't stop there! The Explorers plan to take on even more exciting adventures as the group continues to grow. Volunteer Hannah says how they "have activities such as rifle shooting, skiing, caving, kick boxing, Ninja Warrior and Geo-caching planned for the future."
