Cliffe and Cliffe Woods Parish Council

Elections 2015/2017

Elections were held in our parish on Thursday 7th May 2015 for the parliamentary seat of Rochester and Strood (One to be selected), Medway Council (up to three to be selected)
All current councillors (Medway and Cliffe & Cliffe Woods Parish) and the MP ceased office after the 7th May and have to be re-nominated if they would like to continue. If more candidates are nominated than positions, there is a vote on election day.

The Polling Station for Cliffe Village was the Small Hall, Memorial Hall, Church Street Cliffe, and for the Cliffe Woods ward, The Community Centre, Parkside, Cliffe Woods. Electors can apply for a postal vote, which can be delivered to the polling station on the day of the election or posted to Medway Council to arrive by polling day - contact Medway Council for details.

There will be ballot papers for the General Election (vote for one only) and Medway Council (vote for up to three)
Kelly Tolhurst was elected as MP

and Gary Etheridge, Peter Hicks and John Williams as the three Medway Councillors for Strood Rural.

The nominations for Cliffe Village and Cliffe Woods are now confirmed.

There have been three that decided not to seek nomination so we have one vacancy in Cliffe Village and two in Cliffe Woods (there has also been some re-alignment of councillors that were previously co-opted/elected in the other ward) but the other 13 remain as before.
If anybody wants to be considered for co-option to any vacancies (or for more information) please let the Chair chair@cliffeandcliffewood-pc.gov.uk or the Clerk  at clerk@cliffeandcliffewoods-pc.gov.uk

As there were less than 8 in each ward there was not an election on polling day as all are elected
(uncontested) -
7 elected Cliffe Village (1 further vacancy),
6 elected Cliffe Woods ,( 2 further vacancies) at election day.

These were subsequently filled by co-option

On the 6th April, there was a election for the vacancy created by the resignation of a parish councillor. Annette Cooper was elected - see the result below.
